A blind mystic who fans claim correctly predicted Brexit, 9/11, the rise of ISIS and the Boxing Daytsunami envisioned two world-changing events happening in 2018.
Conspiracy theorists believe Baba Vanga foretold many natural disasters and global wars before they happened.
The Bulgarian -who died in 1996 aged 85 – left predictions going all the way to the 51st Century – when she said the world would end.
The coming year has two major events in store, according to the woman known as the ‘Nostradamus from the Balkans’.
Could these predictions actually come true?
The Parker Solar Probe, named after the solar astrophysicist Eugene Parker, is scheduled to launch in July 2018.
The NASA robotic spacecraft is designed to probe the outer corona of the Sun.
While the craft will not actual land on Venus, it will use the planet’s gravitational force to achieve multiple passes of the Sun.The mission aims to determine the structure and dynamics of the magnetic fields at the sources of solar wind, trace the flow of energy that heats the plasma surrounding the Sun and explore dusty plasma near the star and its influence on solar wind and energetic particle formation.
A judge has urged parents to monitor their children’s Internet activity after a teenager who watched pornography when he was just 12-years-old was jailed for repeatedly raping a child.
William Nicholson, who is now 19, watched explicit adult content when he was just a child and then began abusing a primary school pupil to satisfy his sexual urges aged just 14.
The girl kept her ordeal secret until 2015 where she then told a family friend about what had happened and the police were then called.
Judge Peter Armstrong said that Nicholson, from Darlington, County Durham, may have been acting out scenes from pornography which he had viewed on his Xbox.
He told Teesside Crown Court: ‘One of the remarkable pieces of evidence in the case was that he had started looking at pornography at the age of 12. It almost beggars belief.
‘It is behaviour where it is experimenting or curious and perhaps acting out what he had seen using [the girl] as an object to do that.’
‘Well, it is a warning to parents, generally, to monitor their children’s activities rather than them being left to their own devices in their bedrooms.
‘I can’t believe it didn’t have an effect on him.’
Chris Baker, mitigating, said Nicholson had been heavily influenced by adults from the time he stopped going to school seven years ago.
Judge Armstrong told Nicholson: ‘You admitted during your trail that at the age of 12 you started looking at pornography on the internet.
‘That, I am quite satisfied, had a serious deleterious effect on you so far as your behaviour was concerned.
‘The pre-sentence report says it may well be that your contact with adults as far as work is concerned, and home tutoring, meant that you were in that sort of atmosphere and involved in adult matters far too early in your life.’
Before the trial began, the victim said: ‘I find it hard to trust people. I trust my mum, but I find it hard to tell people personal things.
‘All of this has made me have nightmares. I cry in my sleep, and when I wake up, I feel scared.’
After the trial, she said: ‘When this was happening, I felt really confused. I knew it was wrong, but I didn’t know how to put it into words.
‘Now, I really understand it was rape, and he had no right to do that to me.
‘I’m happy that people have believe me, and the jury believed me.’
Nicholson was sentenced to six years at a young offenders institute after he was found guilty of two charges of rape, attempted rape, two indecent assaults and causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.
He was also put on the sex offenders register for life and forbidden to work with children. He was given an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order was also imposed, prohibiting Nicholson from having unsupervised contact with under-16s and restricting his computer and internet use.
Horace Owiti Opiyo, from Kenya, had genitals that were twenty times the average size – meaning he couldn’t walk easily and dropped out of school
A man has undergone life-saving surgery to reduce the size of his 11lbs testicles and THREE FOOT penis that had grown so large he couldn’t wear normal clothes.
Horace Owiti Opiyo, known as Forence to friends, was left with testicles twenty times the average size after a growth continued to get larger despite surgery to remove it.
The 20-year-old first noticed a cyst on his genitals in 2006 and had surgery in 2007 but the growth came back and his penis grew to almost a metre long, weighing 5kgs.
He dropped out of school because of the condition and was later diagnosed with scrotal elephantiasis.
This can be caused by a mosquito bite injecting larvae into the bloodstream, which then grow into parasitic worms blocking the body’s drainage system and causing swelling.
The condition left Horace, who is from Kibigori, Kenya, in extreme agony and prevented him from living a normal life.
Unable to afford an operation he tried herbal remedies but to no success.
It was only when his story was put on social media that he got the help he needeSpeaking about the first time he noticed the cyst, he said: “This thing started very small, like a boil. Then it was the size of my fist.“It just continued to grow bigger and bigger.”Forence’s condition meant he had to drop out of school because his testicles grew so large that he could no longer wear clothes or walk easily. He was also teased by his classmates and was unable to afford any more surgery so spent more time at home with his brother Eliza and elderly grandmother, Salina. His parents died when he was five.
Forence said: “I told my grandmother that I have been infected by a disease, but I’m not sure what it is. It could be a curse. I knew this was not God’s work, but the devil’s.”
In an attempt to help, his neighbour, Duncan Otieno, took photographs and put the story on Facebook.
The post went viral overnight and reached the Kisumu county Governor’s wife, Olivia Ranguma, who asked a doctor to asses Forence’s condition and an ambulance was sent for him straight away.
Doctors at Jaramogioginga Odinga Hospital examined Forence and diagnosed him with Scrotal elephantiasis.
Forence had two operations to reduce the size of his scrotum and reconstruct his penis so that it is usable.
Fortunately, the operation was a success and has changed the 20-year-old’s life.
He said: “When I got up I was surprised that my body was so light. All the heaviness had gone.
“I’m swimming now. I couldn’t go anywhere near the water because of the heaviness of that thing.
“Now I can run and I can play football.
He added: “I’m trying as much as possible to build myself up so that I can have a wife. But the next step I want to take is to get an education.
Once upon a time, catfishing was a new and shocking concept.
However, online and app dating has been around for a while now, and catfishing stories have become a regular part of the narrative – in addition to every other annoying dating trend out there.
But Emma Perrier’s experience is a little different.
Namely because, rather than ending in misery, disillusionment and disappointment, it ends happily.
It began in 2015, when Emma, who is from France but lives in the UK, dipped a toe into the murky waters of online dating.
As The Atlantic explained, Emma was newly-single and working long hours as a barista in a City coffee shop, meaning she wasn’t really meeting the sort of man she wanted to date. So, like many an intrepid dater before her, she signed up to a site – in this case, Zoosk.
Things got off to a good start, with the first match she made being the very handsome Ronaldo “Ronnie” Scicluna, a 34-year-old electrician from the West Midlands who said he was Italian.
Except, when Emma messaged him in his purported native tongue, he had no idea what she was saying.
This might have been the first alarm bell, but Ronnie had an explanation. His mum was English and his dad seldom spoke to him in Italian, so there hadn’t been much opportunity to pick it up. It seemed totally plausible, and Emma accepted it.
Their relationship went from strength to strength.
That is, online.
While they enjoyed an intense correspondence – even saying “I love you” to one another – by the six month mark, they’d still not actually met in person.
They were speaking every day and had both deleted their dating profiles, but every time plans were made, Ronnie had an excuse.
Of course, this should have been the huge giveaway, but it in fact took one of the waiters Emma worked with to spell it out for her to do some investigating.
One quick image reverse search on an app revealed the truth, but it took Emma a little longer to uncover it in its entirety.
Ronnie was not a dreamy electrician from the West Midlands. His pictures were actually of a Turkish actor and model called Adem Güzel, and after a long and bizarre confrontation with “Ronnie” during which he accused her of being crazy, it turned out he was Alan Stanley, a 53-year-old builder and decorator. So in September 2016, Emma found Adem and messaged him to warn him that his photos were being used by 53-year-old decorators to catfish.
As it happens, Adem had received quite a few of these messages, as this was not the first time this had happened, and he initially wasn’t going to reply to her.
But then something told him to – and it’s just as well as he did, because their exchange resulted in him coming to London to meet her, their first date, a kiss and now they’re together.
This so-called cucumber cleanse instructs women to peel the cucumber, then place it, cold, into your vagina before twisting it around for about 20 minutes.
The, er, reasoning behind this advice is that it apparently “helps sanitise and maintain a pleasant odour”, reports The Sun .
Needless to say, qualified medical professionals would urge you to NOT do this.
Firstly, vaginas are self-cleaning. Secondly, you actually put yourself at risk of infections like gonorrhoea and even HIV, by upsetting the natural pH balance of your lady bits.Dr Jen Gunter, a Canadian gynaecologist, warned that “if you have a vagina you should definitely not do this”.
“This idea that some kind of vaginal cleansing is required, be it a peeled cucumber or the ‘feminine washes’ sold at drugstores, is misogyny dressed up as health care and I am having none of it,” she wrote on her blog.
“Vaginas are not dirty.
“Study after study after study tells us that douches, cleanses, steams, vinegar, pH balancing products, aloe, colloidal silver, garlic or whatever else passing as the vaginal snake oil du jour at best do nothing but have real potential for harming good bacteria or disrupting the mucosal surface.
“Paradoxically, it will also cause odour.”
Ladies, you have been warned. You’re on your own now.
An exorcist has claimed Hurricane Irma and other recent storms and flooding are signs of an imminentbiblical apocalypse.
The famous demon hunter also claims that the devil is “behind” North Korean leader Kim Jong-un .Don Antonio Mattatelli made the alarming claims in response to a string of natural disasters in his home country of Italy. He said: “All natural disasters, such as hurricanes and earthquakes, demonstrate that the end of the world is coming.
“It will not be the end of the world in general, but of this world yes.
“Natural phenomena so sudden and powerful shows that, there is no confidence in the future and we have come to an end of modernity”
Don Antonio is one of the most famous exorcists in Italy and regularly makes public statements warning of the devil’s work.
He believes that Satan is present on the internet and that demonic possession can take place online.
Don Antonio made his latest pronouncements after Italy became the latest in a series of countries to be hit by extreme weather.
The country has suffered torrential rainfall and heavy flooding which has left eight people dead.
In the past week the country has also been hit by an earthquake, the epicentre of which Borgorose in Rieti province in the Lazio region of Italy.
As well as speaking out about natural disasters, Don Antonio commented on the current geopolitical situation.
He said: “Behind Kim Jong-Un is surely Satan, in North Korea all are forbidden religion and there is only the idolatry of the leader who has replaced God.”
Aliens on at least nine planets beyond the solar system could see – and potentially study – Earth, scientists have claimed.
The new research from Queen’s University Belfast offers a whole new angle to exoplanet-hunting, looking at how an alien observer might be able to detect Earth using our own methods. The scientists identified parts of the sky from where various planets in our solar system could be seen passing in front of the sun as they undertake so called “transits”.
Of the thousands of known exoplanets* the team identified 68 worlds where observers would see one or more planets in our solar system transiting the sun.
Nine of these planets were “ideally” placed to observe transits of the Earth, although none of them are thought to be capable of hosting Earth-type life. They calculated that the smaller rocky planets including Earth would be far more easy to spot than the gas and ice giants Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune that are further from the sun.
