UNDAUNTED By Sunny Okonudom

We began together,
now you’re miles ahead,
dear friend and comrade.
Does it mean I didn’t keep pace
with the fleeting times
and changing climes?
I have slipped a thousand
times along the way,
and my courage took
a staggering hit that my vision
has become overcast with doubts;
I whine when I should weep,
my palms are full of blisters
from tiring labor under scorching sun
and bone chilling rain,
but in all I’m holding on
bravely like a soldier should,
to reach the finish line.
