TIME

TheLion King live-action reboot might be getting just a little more flawless.

According to Variety, Beyoncé is reportedly the top choice for director Jon Favreau for the role of Nala. The film has already secured Atlanta star Donald Glover to voice Simba, while James Earl Jones will reprise his role as Simba’s father, Mufasa. Favreau helmed the recent live-action remake of The Jungle Book; The Lion King will follow a similar style with realistic animated animals.

Hundreds of children remain missing while officials refuse to acknowledge the largest-ever mass abduction of Nigerian schoolchildren by Boko Haram Islamic extremists, Human Rights Watch said Thursday.

Boko Haram kidnapped hundreds of children in the northeastern town of Damasak on Nov. 24, 2014, the New York-based organization said in a dispatch from researcher Mausi Segun.

She quoted traditional leaders as saying they submitted a list of 501 missing children to police and local government officials in April 2015, when the town was briefly freed from Boko Haram, but have never received a response.

International outrage met the separate April 2014 abduction of 276 girls from a school in Chibok. Dozens escaped early on and Nigeria’s government last year negotiated the release of 21. More than 200 Chibok schoolgirls remain missing.

But there has been no word about the children of Damasak. Nigerian officials in the past have not responded…

Abuja ? A Gudu Upper Area Court, Abuja, has sentenced a 49-year-old man, Ibrahim Jibril to six weeks imprisonment for stealing a purse.

Jibril of no fixed address pleaded guilty and was subsequently convicted on a two-count charge of criminal trespass and theft levelled against him.

The judge, Mr Umar Kagarko, however, gave the convict an option of N6,000 fine.

Kagarko said he considered the convict’s age in giving him light sentence, and also because he did not waste the time of the court as he quickly admitted committing the crime.

Prosecutor Fidelis Ogbobe had told the court that on March 27, the convict “criminally trespassed into the building of the Accountant General of the Federation (AGF).

“He went into the office and stole a purse belonging to one Mrs Oloruyonu Maria, a staff of the office of the AGF.

“During police investigation, the said purse was recovered from…

KINDRED- By MSHINARAM WARIGON AHREY

KINDRED
A casement of magical spirit shinning
Through the tenement so rugged and free
Find a family in kindred spirits abiding
Wafting together through desert and sea
Free-styled soul, beautified so wholly
Scenting the serene vicinity
In the midst of foul scamps and unholy
The sacredness in sanctity
Such damp, dour and dreary members
Are garbed in sweetness of songs
For all are saints not short of fallen glory
Each holds the tendrils of the other
Sharing such sweet songs, story
Of peace painted in pure order
Worthy of worth and winners
